Jutka Fischer | Sanja Bresslauer and Jutka Fischer |
Born close to Mohács in southern Hungary, Fischer arrived in
Budapest aged two with her parents and brother, but had to leave
suddenly after the uprising in 1956. The family headed for
America, settling in California. Fischer, however, trained at
London's Central School of Art and Design and remained in England
after graduating in 1975.
Fischer still keeps her old studio at the small port of Newhaven
in East Sussex, but she received a grant from South East Arts and
returned to her homeland to the inspiring setting of Zugliget.
Fischer taught pottery work in England and aside from working on
creations for her own future UK exhibition, a prerequisite of the
grant, she decided she would like to share her love of ceramics
with others.
